Introducing Live AI Recitation Correction
Our biggest update yet: recite aloud and get corrected word-by-word in real time, the way a teacher would. Here's how it works and why we built it.
Today we are releasing the feature that has been at the heart of Noor-ul-Quran since day one: live AI recitation correction. Open any surah, tap the microphone, and recite. As you go, every word lights up — green for correct, red for a mistake, yellow for a word you skipped.
This is the closest thing to having a teacher beside you, available at any hour.
Why We Built It
The single biggest obstacle in self-study memorization is that you cannot hear your own mistakes. A wrong vowel, a skipped word, a letter pronounced from the wrong part of the mouth — these slip past unnoticed and harden into habits that are painful to correct later.
A human teacher catches them instantly. Most students do not have a teacher available every time they sit down to revise. Our goal was to close that gap.
How It Works
When you recite, the app listens and aligns your spoken words against the Uthmani (Hafs) text of the surah. Rather than checking one word at a time, it aligns your entire phrase against the expected verse — so it can tell the difference between a word you got wrong, a word you skipped, and an extra word it misheard.
The matching is tolerant of the natural variation in how recognition hears Arabic, while still flagging genuine mistakes. The displayed text never changes — it always stays in the Uthmani script.
What's Next
This is version one. We are already working on tajweed-level feedback, per-letter articulation hints, and progress analytics that show which verses give you the most trouble over time.
